VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

SHOPPING, PRESCRIPTIONS AND ODD JOBS VOLUNTEER

Many residents are unable to get to the shops or to the pharmacy to collect their prescriptions perhaps due to age or infirmity.  There may also be small jobs which are straightforward to most of us but which are difficult for some of our neighbours.

If you have some time available and would like to help out, please get in touch.  This is an ad hoc opportunity but usually there will be some flexibility between yourself and the neighbour to agree a time.

In time, we may look for groups of Volunteers to complete larger tasks such as gardening and decorating.  Please also let us know if you would be happy to join one of these teams.

Expenses can be paid (petrol at a fixed rate although generally we would expect tasks will be fairly local).  We ask that you complete a Volunteer registration form and do a DBS Check (which the scheme pays for).  We will take up a reference and following final paperwork, we will register you as a Volunteer.

FUNDRAISING AND EVENTS VOLUNTEER

As Social Distancing allows, we intends to set up Meet Up Monday style events to enable neighbours to come together, chat and perhaps hear from a speaker.  Megan, our fundraising and events lead will need volunteers to help put on the events so if you can help please do let us know.  This would be more of a regular commitment although we appreciate you may not be able to volunteer every week.

We will also be looking to fundraise both to cover scheme costs (we have been fortunate to obtain grant funding this year but would like to be self sufficient from year 2) and also for other causes, particularly those based in IP3.  If you can help organise or take part in these events please get in touch.

BEFRIENDING VOLUNTEER

Many people may have little social contact from week to week and this is likely to be even more the case coming out of the pandemic

If you would be willing to spare a short amount of time each week, probably 30 minutes maximum to chat with a lonely person we would love to hear from you.  This would be by telephone at present but ideally face to face visits in the longer term.
