IP3 IPSWICH GOOD NEIGHBOUR SCHEME emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. It was created following the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020 with the desire to continue the work done in the South East of the town and to engender an even more powerful sense of Community spirit and Mutual Support.
A Volunteer committee was formed which has been using Zoom to formulate plans. We have obtained initial funding and have exciting plans to be able both to help residents with simple tasks or being a listening ear and, in the longer term when social distancing allows us, to run community events and to make it a really positive place to live.
Paul, the group chair says "We set up the Facebook group to help out during the Covid-19 Pandemic and it quickly became clear that there was not just a need then but that there will be an ongoing need in the future. I had heard of Good Neighbour Schemes working well across Suffolk and felt that this would transfer well to an urban context. We had some volunteers come forward to form a committee who have a great mix of skills and with the help of Jane from Community Action Suffolk we have set up the scheme."
We look forward to helping you or welcoming you on board to join the team of volunteers.
